#2 Under-Appreciated Album of 2012:
The Rocketboys - Build Anyway (self-released)
These guys are perennially under-rated. It could be the name, but these dudes just can’t seem to break out - and it’s really too bad, because what they’re doing is really great. This is their second full-length album, and it’s a perfect break-up record (though it’s written [at least partially] about band turmoil rather than relationship problems, I think). But every song is expertly crafted with beautiful lyrics and luscious harmonies. It’s soaring.
